Systems Engineer / 158k – 165k
The Sponsor is responsible for conducting research and investigative activities supporting the office’s and Organizations critical missions. In addition, the office is responsible for ensuring evaluation and discovery of external critical technologies. The Sponsor’s office is responsible for identifying, acquiring and integrating data sources to support discovery programs. The Sponsor requires support specializing in data science and cyber security business integration for a large department consisting of several offices. Priorities will be managed by the Sponsor’s Front Office Portfolio Manager and GTM.
REQUIRED DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE
The candidate shall have the following required skills, certifications and demonstrated experience:
• Demonstrated experience and skills with building monitoring dashboards and alerts on windows and linux systems.
• Demonstrated experience and skills using common data models, data patterns, and data governance.
• Demonstrated experience creating Splunk and other COTS monitoring tool customer queries, reports, and alerts.
• Demonstrated experience implementing knowledge objects, lookups, and data models using common data model patterns.
• Demonstrated experience writing in multiple scripting languages, python, bash and powershell.
• Demonstrated experience working with various monitoring software on a Linux platform.
• Demonstrated experience working with various monitoring software on a Windows platform.
• Demonstrated experience working with various monitoring software’s in the cloud and on prem environments.
• Demonstrated experience performing complex systems development such as design, implementation, and administration for enterprise-based systems monitoring and alerting systems such as CheckMK, Nagios, and SolarWinds.
• Demonstrated experience performing complex systems administration and maintenance for enterprise auditing and logging systems.
• Demonstrated experience performing complex systems administration and maintenance for large-scale Splunk systems including search heads, indexes, forwarders, and agents.
• Demonstrated experience performing ETL tasks to ensure data is loaded into Splunk accurately.
• Demonstrated experience performing complex queries and searches with Splunk and creating Splunk dashboards to clearly and accurately convey complex data.
• Demonstrated experience with shell scripting or interpreted languages such as Python or PowerShell.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing existing systems and identifying necessary corrective actions and improvements.
HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Skills and demonstrated experiences that are highly desired but not required to perform the work include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
- Demonstrated experience creating and presenting system documentation briefings to review and approval boards.
- Demonstrated experience performing tier 2 thru tier 4 support, including both systems troubleshooting and incident tracking and management.
- Certifications: Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect Certification.
