Position Description
Payroll Clerk Responsibilities:
Prepares payroll and resolves discrepancies.
Transmits payroll data to payroll service in a timely manner.
Prepares and mails financial and tax reports and payments as required to comply with
external reporting requirements.
Maintains confidential personnel files related to payroll such as time cards, sick time,
vacation and holiday schedules, and child support and garnishment.
Prepares and mails mandatory checks for garnished deductions to the appropriate party as
needed.
Responds to employee inquiries regarding amount and receipt of check, overpayments
and any other payroll questions.
Maintains updated reports.
Operates standard office equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Process all payroll related transactions including but not limited to new hire payroll set
up, termination processing and payments, salary changes, commissions, bonuses,
federal/state/local tax withholdings
Enter and process special payroll adjustments, deductions, refunds, overrides, manual
checks, and retroactive payments, etc.
Respond to employee pay-related, benefits and PTO inquiries
Process Employment Verification Requests and Garnishments in a timely fashion.
Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
Competency in MS Office, databases and accounting software
Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
Accuracy and attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers
Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
Data entry and word processing skills
Well organized
Payroll Clerk Requirements
High school diploma/GED.
Degree in accounting or related field preferred.
Previous experience in a payroll department.
Knowledge of payroll software is beneficial.
Strong attention to detail.
Good math and communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Team player.
Education and Experience:
Experience with ADP Workforce Now required.
Minimum 1+ year payroll.
Qualifications:
Data Entry: 1 year (Required)
Payroll: 1 year (Required)
Basic Excel skills
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $15.00 – $25.00 per hour
